Grade Readiness Program
Strengthen What They Know. Prepare for What Comes Next.
The Summer Grade Readiness Program is a structured K–5 academic program designed to help students maintain important skills over the summer while preparing for the grade ahead.
Students begin by reviewing and reinforcing key skills and concepts from the grade they just completed. They then get a head start on important skills and concepts they will encounter in their upcoming grade.
This combination of review and preparation helps keep learning active during the summer, strengthens foundational skills, and gives students early exposure to what comes next.
The goal is not to turn summer into another school year. It is to provide focused, purposeful academic support that helps students maintain what they've learned, strengthen their foundation, and enter the next grade with greater familiarity and confidence.
Two Parts. One Purpose.
Part 1: Review the Previous Grade
Students begin by reviewing important skills and concepts taught during the previous grade.
This portion of the program provides structured practice and reinforcement across key academic areas, giving students another opportunity to strengthen skills they may not have fully mastered or simply need more practice using.
Part 2: Prepare for the Current Grade
Students then get a head start on important skills and concepts they will encounter during their current grade.
Rather than waiting until new material is introduced for the first time, students have an opportunity to become familiar with upcoming concepts, vocabulary, strategies, and expectations.
When students encounter those skills during their regular school or homeschool instruction, the material is no longer completely new.
Complete Academic Preparation
Depending on the grade level, the Grade Readiness Program may include:
-
Phonics and foundational reading
-
Reading fluency and comprehension
-
Spelling
-
Vocabulary
-
Language and grammar
-
Writing
-
Mathematics
The specific skills and concepts change with each grade level so students receive instruction appropriate for the grade they have completed and the grade they are entering or currently attending.
How Grade Readiness Is Different From Our Learning Paths
The Learning Path Series provides targeted instruction in a specific academic skill area based on a student's individual learning needs.
The Summer Grade Readiness Program has a different purpose.
Rather than focusing on one targeted skill area, Grade Readiness provides broader academic preparation across subjects by:
Reviewing key skills from the previous grade → Reinforcing the foundation → Introducing key skills from the current grade
This makes Grade Readiness a good option for families looking for more comprehensive academic reinforcement and preparation rather than tutoring in one specific subject area.
Who Is This Program For?
The Summer Grade Readiness Program may be a good fit for students who:
-
Would benefit from reviewing important skills from the previous grade
-
Need additional practice before moving into more challenging material
-
Want a head start on current-grade skills and concepts
-
Need reinforcement across several academic areas
-
Would benefit from continued academic practice throughout the year
-
Are transitioning from one grade level to the next
-
Are homeschooled and would benefit from additional grade-level review and preparation
The program can be used as summer preparation between grade levels or as supplemental academic support during the school year.
Personalized Support Within a Structured Program
Although the Summer Grade Readiness Program follows a structured previous-grade review and current-grade preparation model, students do not all learn at the same pace.
Instruction, explanations, practice, and support can be adjusted to help each student understand the material while maintaining the overall Grade Readiness sequence.
This gives students the benefit of a structured program while still receiving personalized support.
Getting Started
Every student begins with a Student Insight Session.
This gives us an opportunity to learn more about your child, discuss your goals and concerns, and understand how the Summer Grade Readiness Program can best support them.
Students then begin their grade-level program with a review of the previous grade before moving into preparation for their current grade.
Build Confidence Before the Next Challenge Arrives
Sometimes confidence comes from having another opportunity to practice what you've already learned.
And sometimes it comes from seeing what's ahead before you're expected to master it.
The Summer Grade Readiness Program provides both.
Review what they learned. Strengthen what they know. Get a head start on what's next.
