The Learning Path Series is the structured instructional system used within our K–5 Student Support services.
When a child needs additional academic support, the Learning Paths provide focused, step-by-step instruction in specific foundational skill areas. Rather than relying on homework help, generic worksheets, or one-size-fits-all instruction, each
Learning Path is designed to identify where a learner is starting, strengthen the skills they need, and build toward greater confidence and independence.
Seven Paths. Targeted Support.
The Learning Path Series includes:
Phonics Path • Reading Path • Spelling Path • Vocabulary Path • Writing Path • Language Path • Math Path
Each Learning Path includes structured lessons, targeted skill development, purposeful practice, and ongoing progress monitoring.
Students do not simply begin at a grade-level label. Using our Learning Path Placement Trees and information about the individual learner, we identify an appropriate starting point based on current skills, strengths, and areas needing additional support.
This allows instruction to meet the student where they are and build skills progressively rather than moving ahead before important foundational skills are secure.
How the Learning Paths Work Together
Academic skills are connected.
A student who struggles with reading, for example, may need additional support with phonics, vocabulary, or language. A student experiencing difficulty with writing may need support with spelling, vocabulary, or language before written expression becomes easier.
The Learning Path Series allows instruction to focus on the skills a student needs while recognizing how those skills work together.
A student may receive instruction through one Learning Path or across multiple Learning Paths based on their individual learning needs.
Personalized Through the S.T.U.D.E.N.T. Lens
The Learning Path Series is guided by the S.T.U.D.E.N.T. Lens Framework, which helps us look beyond a student's grade level or academic label to understand what may be affecting learning.
We consider the learner's interests, the demands of the task, underlying skill development, performance data, engagement and access, available supports, and the path toward greater independence.
This helps us answer an important question:
What does this learner need next?
From there, instruction can be purposeful, targeted, and responsive to the individual student.

While schoolwork can provide useful information about what a student is experiencing, tutoring sessions focus on strengthening the underlying skills the student needs to make meaningful academic progress.
