Learning From the Learner
Designing Instruction From the Student’s Lived Experience
Most educators are trained to analyze data, follow programs, and meet compliance requirements. Few are trained to understand what learning actually feels like for students when instruction is difficult.
Learning From the Learner was created to change that.

This transformational professional learning course helps educators move beyond surface-level performance and develop the skills needed to design instruction from the learner’s perspective.

Rather than focusing on “fixing” students, participants learn how to examine task demands, cognitive load, emotional regulation, environmental factors, and learning histories that influence academic outcomes.
Through real classroom scenarios, applied case studies, and guided design work, participants will learn how to:
-
Identify hidden barriers to learning
-
Interpret data responsibly and ethically
-
Design supports that build independence
-
Maintain high expectations with increased access
-
Reduce learned helplessness
-
Support successful inclusion
-
Use the S.T.U.D.E.N.T. Lens™ Framework effectively
This course is grounded in real practice, not theory alone. It equips educators with practical tools they can use immediately while strengthening their professional judgment.
